There's rarely a day that goes by without someone mentioning their connection to Amro. People from all over the mid-south have been making music, with our help, for nearly 100 years! That's a lot of people, right? Lannie McMillan, a local sax legend, said this about Amro, "Can you imagine all the great musicians Amro has helped start? It's impossible to imagine what Memphis music would be without Amro Music's influence."
Here are some of the famous musicians we've had the pleasure of serving as customers over the years:
Elvis bought a Gibson SG Guitar, a used Epiphone amp, two guitar chord books, and a guitar chord chart from Amro in 1967. I wonder what chords he got from the books. He also borrowed Amro's Steinway concert grand piano to record several "Live at Graceland" albums. You can still hear it today in the great recordings he left us.
John called us from his hotel, and one of our employees picked him up in his car to bring him to the store to buy a saxophone.
The singer/songwriter/pianist purchased a Steinway piano in 2007.
Joshua Bell visited Amro as a clinician and performed in a concert with Iris Orchestra while in town!
Maynard played a concert at Amro Music. He's pictured here with our chairman, Pat Averwater, and his son and our Vice President, Nick Averwater.
Wayne Brady visited our store on a trip to Memphis back in 2007. He's pictured here with a few of our employees from back then!
This list includes as many notable customers as we could possibly remember! Maybe one day, your name will join theirs!
