The Faces of Amro

Like any business which has been around for over 90 years, Amro has had a lot of outstanding employees over the years.  Vernon Drane (whom many people thought was "Mr. Amro") worked here from 1946-2013.  In fact, the average tenure for "Amroids" is over 10 years.  Day in and day out, it's our outstanding people who make it possible to bring you the highest quality instruments, accessories, print music, and service in the Mid-South.

This week, we'd like to introduce you to some of the "faces of Amro."  If you ever need to call us or stop in, here are some of the folks you're likely to meet!

ameliaAmelia Sayle, Receptionist

Family - "I love my 5 furry rescue babies - 2 dogs and 3 cats.  We named the most recent addition "Banjo the Cat!"

Interests - Photography, live music, indigenous cultures, hiking

Why I Love Music - "Music has the ability to transform your mood.  It uplifts 

Why I Wanted to Work at Amro - "Amro is a long-standing business known for its superior quality and giving back to the local community.  I wanted to be a part of that!"

alanAlan Compton, Director Services

Family - "I come from a musical family.  My brother, my dad, and even my grandmother all played guitar."

Interests - Avid marathon runner, music (percussionist - performs locally and internationally)

Why I Love Music - "I grew up with it.  Music has always been an integral part of my life since I was born."

Why I Wanted to Work at Amro - "Working at Amro gives me the opportunity to stay involved in the music field.  It allows me to help local music students."

Family - Son - Askari: Violinist at White Station Middle School in Memphis, TN

Interests - Soccer, Video games, Listening to leadership and entrepreneurial podcasts, Reading books on personal development

Why I Love Music - "Music is a ladder toward further education in all disciplines.  It helps you to appreciate life, art, and beauty.

Why I Wanted to Work at Amro - "Amro is a nexus for music in this city.  The best musicians and teachers come here.  I think it's one of our greatest resources."

jayJay Harrington, Repair Shop Manager

Family - Wife: Kristi (String Teacher at Bellevue School for the Performing Arts), 5-year old Madelyn (plays cello), 2-year old Abigail

Interests - Music, fishing

Why I Love Music - "I grew up in a musical family.  I love writing songs.  I even met my wife through music!"

Why I Wanted to Work at Amro - "Amro is the best at what we do.  It's got a great family atmosphere and I love being surrounded by musicians."
