Christmas Classics are collections of timeless (and most requested) traditional carols that students are sure to enjoy and cherish throughout the holiday season! Each book of arrangements are designed to go along with the corresponding levels of the Bastien New Traditions All-In-One Course, or the comparable level of any (similar) piano course. In each book, the carols appear in progressive order of difficulty. Duets for each carol (Primer A, Primer B and Level 1 only) provide students with wonderful ensemble playing opportunities. The duets offer a rhythmic foundation for student beginners and may be played by the teacher, a student’s parent or sibling, or a more advanced student. Holiday-themed activity pages are woven into each book to provide fun review and reinforcement of beginning concepts. Gorgeous, full-color illustrations enhance the student experiences.

Rachmaninoff's legendary Opus 18, often lovingly referred to as “Rach 2,” is for many the epitome of the Romantic piano concerto. Following its acclaimed premiere in Moscow in 1901, it proved to be a show-stopper around the globe, finally helping cement Rachmaninoff's international reputation as a composer. To this day, the concerto's enchanting themes and elegiac melodies in the strings are considered the trademark of Rachmaninoff, indeed, of Russian music in general. For the first Urtext edition of this pivotal work, we were able to examine the original autograph score in Moscow's Glinka Museum. Rachmaninoff's own sound recordings were also consulted. The newly prepared piano reduction ensures good playability; it accords exactly with the also newly edited orchestral score and parts. Both of these are available from Breitkopf & Härtel.
Bring new colors and voicings to your guitar playing. Berklee Professor of Guitar Rick Peckham unlocks the mysteries of modal tonality, with a series of exercises and demonstrations that will expand your chord vocabulary, capturing the signature sounds of groups led by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, as well as contemporary jazz, pop, and R&B artists. Peckham will show you how to extend your capabilities by integrating a variety of new voicings and chordal phrasing into your playing so that you can handle any modal situation guided by your own ears and instincts. Going beyond single chord vamps, this approach allows you to play through simple and complex chord progressions using these modern sounds. This book includes video lessons from Peckham for each chapter and also includes some audio examples. All media is accessed online for download or streaming using the unique code in each book. The audio files include PLAYBACK+, a multi-functional audio player that allows you to slow down audio without changing pitch, set loop points, change keys, and pan left or right.
Learn how triads are key to understanding harmony, soloing, and comping. Triads are the basis of all harmony. By understanding how they relate to larger chord structures, you will improve your command over harmony generally and be able to use triads more effectively in all your playing. Through visualizing and using common triads on the first three strings, you will create smooth lines that make sense of the chords even when the song changes keys or modes. Examples are in traditional notation and guitar chord diagrams and audio demos are provided for each.
