Performance Preparation Checklist
______ Performance dates on school calendar
______ Reserve concert hall
______ Secure P.A. equipment
______ Reserve concert hall for pre-concert set-up and rehearsals
______ Plan for set-up and take-down
______ Reserve seats in hall for other groups performing
______ Prepare program and make copies
______ Choose ushers to pass out programs
______ Confirm heat/air/lights will be working
______ Confirm facilities will be unlocked
______ Write a brief script for each music selection
______ If you are announcing selections, choose students to do so and give them script ahead of time
______ Allow for students to practice scripts with the P.A. system
______ Have extra script copies
______ Have ensemble set change written down if more than one group is performing
______ Choose stage hands
______ Practice entering and exiting the stage
______ Publicize your performance
______ Discuss proper attire with students (be specific)
______ Discuss stage etiquette with students:
• Do not wave to audience
• No gum or candy
• How to properly hold instruments
• When the percussion section should stand
• How to properly sit (especially girls in skirts on front row)
• How to stand to recognize applause
