High School Band Intent Form

In order to organize a band program, certain responsibilities need to be assumed by the student and parent. The following information is presented to make students and parents aware of these responsibilities to the band program.
1. The student must attend all scheduled summer rehearsals and band camp. Dates are listed on the attached schedule. Any student who does not attend band camp in August will not have a spot in the first marching show. This is the time when all music and marching drill is learned.
2. Band fees will be collected in August before issuing uniforms. Fees are $_________per semester.
3. Students must attend all sectional rehearsals.
4. Students must attend all contests, concerts, and marching performances including parades, and other performance functions.
5. Fundraising is a vital part of the financial operation of our band program and all band students are expected to participate when fundraising is needed.
6. Students are expected to practice at least 25 minutes per day and have music and drill up to performance level at the assigned time. (While it is not mandatory it is extremely beneficial for as many of our students as possible to take private lessons. We are fortunate to have many fine instrumental music educators in our area and our students need to take advantage of this whenever possible. Contact the band directors concerning private teachers.)
7. All parents are members of the Band Boosters and are encouraged to participate in activities and meetings.
I have read and considered the guidelines above involving participation in the High School Band. I understand my responsibilities to the High School Band and will make a commitment to be an active part of the band program.
