JUNE

  • Send school instruments to the repair shop
  • Check marching percussion for damaged heads, lugs, carriers, etc.

SEPTEMBER

  • Ballgames, parades, tryouts, testing, concerts, fundraising, meetings, festivals, clinics
  • Confirm transportation for ball games and marching festivals start
  • Clinics – watch for letters, pay attention to deadlines, fees, transportation, housing
  • Confirm second semester dates with school calendar. Watch for conflicts with school and state testing, Prom, ACT, SAT, awards night, banquets, class trips, science fairs, etc.
  • Set dates for fall step-up program
  • Band parent meeting. Get volunteer parents to assist with events--double-check marching equipment, props, flags, poles, extra uniform parts, first aid, meals and money.
  • Check for possible trip to university games, usually free to get in with band

OCTOBER

  • Be prepared for playoff games. (More transportation and expense)
  • Plan Fall concert or Christmas concert – select music.
  • Plan Christmas concert promotion. Invite school board members and city officials. Advertise program and picture
  • Plan transportation for Christmas parades.
  • Plan for marching festival. Monitor dates, transportation, schedule, rehearsal schedule.
  • Plan Solo and Ensemble contest – music, dates and location

NOVEMBER

  • Football playoff

  • Write, purchase, or contract drill and music for fall marching show
