Our Vice-President, Rick Jefferies recently received a nice note from the President of the GMMTA, The Greater Memphis Music Teachers Association. The note includes a special thanks to Josh Stevens, one of our piano sales team superstars.
Dear Rick,
Just wanted to say thank you to you and to everyone at Amro for all you do to support the music teachers of the Memphis and surrounding area. Your business and especially the people at Amro certainly play a tremendous role in making this a very musical place for all of the families and schools and churches, etc. to experience and enjoy. I speak for myself as well as for GMMTA in expressing our appreciation to Josh Stevens for all he does to support our activities and events as well as our individual studies. It is always great to have him share in the various programs and events. Thank you so much.
Sincerly,
Julia Pilgrim, President of GMMTA

On the occasion of Amro's 88th Anniversary Celebration, we heard from a few more customers.
Unlike other music stores in the area, Amro pays attention to you
even if you are not a star. I always feel relaxed and at home.

I've visited all shapes and sizes of music stores from NY to LA and many in between. And there is just no other company like Amro. Virtually all the staff at Amro are musicians that listen and understand your needs. The selection and variety of instruments, accessories and sheet music is unsurpassed. I know the employees at Amro are happy to be celebrating their 88th year in business. But the truth is, the City of Memphis and State of Tennessee should be proud of Amro as a gleaming example of fortitude, excellent management of both people and money, and an advanced ability to adapt to changing market conditions and consumer interest.

Karen Withrow, a piano department customer, received a special Christmas gift from her Amro rep, Robert Klingbeil, and wrote us to say how her family liked it.
Dear Uncle Robert and all my Amro Friends,
I love my new bright and shiny red doggie piano! It's just my size and I can play a duet with my mama! She wanted me off the bench, so you have made my practicing easier! Thank you for my treat and I hope Santa brings you all lots of treats too!
Love and licks,
Molly Withrow

Late yesterday afternoon I happened to glance out my front door and saw a box from UPS on the front porch. Not expecting any deliveries, I was quite surprised to see that the Steinway lock key had arrived. I’ve seen photos of the key, but the real thing is quite impressive. It’s solid brass and beautifully cast and polished. I expect to make a satin ebony plaque with a Steinway lyre logo and a nice hook for the key. It will go somewhere on a wall as a piece d’art.
As for the Steinway grand piano I acquired from Amro, François, my piano technician, tuned it a second time and did some regulation on the action. We are both amazed at how well it’s settling in here. I played several Model Ls and maybe an “O” or two in music school and don’t remember any that sounded as big as life as mine. I was somewhat concerned about the very low bass at Amro. The bass seems to be taking care of itself nicely. It’s now becoming full and rich. This is truly a magnificent Steinway and I’m delighted and quite proud to own it.
Thanks galore to you and the folks at Amro Music, especially Rick and Richard.

Dear Amro,
A beautiful Yamaha grand piano was moved from our neighbors’ home to our home (next door). We anticipated it could be a time-consuming, difficult task but we were wrong. Lorris Craig and Jamie Hickey assured us by their professional manner that they were capable of handling this task. It was done without a “bobble.” It was done very efficiently, and quickly. Both men were helpful as to arrangement, and information about “towel” under one leg to match rug height. They both were very accommodating and polite. I was very impressed. Please thank them for me and I commend you on your selection of such fine men. We are thrilled to store this piano for our neighbors.
Very truly yours,
Mrs. Walter Scott, Jr.

Dear Amro,
Louise and William and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Amro Music last week, during our stay in Memphis. Both of you set the tone for our trip, as we found you and so many other Memphis to be so warm and friendly. We enjoyed browsing through your tenor sax and guitar music, and William really enjoyed playing one of your saxophones. The high school he will be attending in two years allows 7th and 8th graders to audition for their marching band, and participate in the two years prior to high school. He had his first practice with the band yesterday, and really has his work cut out for him if he’s going to make the cut this year. But he is excited about the challenge, and his visit to your store was a great boost for him with his sax. Thank you so much for the book on Memphis Before the Blues. Louise and I both enjoyed reading it, and it helped us understand why Memphis became so pivotal in the music history of America. That was a treat. We were not able to exchange the Redbirds tickets for general admission due to the special holiday game (with fireworks afterward); but we bought $6.00 general admission tickets for Thursday night and had a wonderful evening watching the game and the fireworks show. Again, thank you for your generosity, without which we would surely have not even gone to the game. We will certainly see you again when our travels bring us to Memphis.
Regards,

Dear Amro,
My piano was a very special present from my husband and I am enjoying this “gift of music.” We were both pleased with the professional and courteous service of the Amro staff. I highly recommend Amro to all of my friends and neighbors.

Dear Amro:
Thanks a million for the appraisal of the Steinway piano. You certainly handled this in a professional manner and I am very pleased; however, it will take my daughter, Lynne, to play it when she comes to Memphis.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely yours,

Dear Mr. Rick Jefferies,
Now that we have owned our Boston GP-193 grand piano for a year, I wanted to write you and tell you how much we enjoy it.
When we asked you to order the instrument for us, it was after much research and comparison, playing about forty different instruments in seven cities. We found the Boston pianos to be more consistent in their playing than those of other makers. Further, the wider case and larger soundboard of the Boston provided power and resonance equal to larger instruments. For our taste, the GP-193 was the 'cream of the crop,' and the ideal instrument for our home. Indeed, it has proven itself to be just that: it has the power to "part your hair" and at the same time, the expressiveness to produce the quietest passages. We would recommend the Boston piano to anyone in the market for a quality instrument. It has truly been a spectacular addition to our home.
Sincerely,
Dwight D. Gatwood, PhD
