Baritone & Euphonium

baritone horn

The baritone horn and euphonium are popular low brass instruments.  They play lower notes that are the foundation of most music.

Marching bands, concert bands, drum and bugle corps, and most brass ensembles include a baritone or euphonium.

Baritones and euphoniums look almost identical and play the same way.  The difference is that the euphonium is slightly larger, has more of conical shape inside, and often has four valves instead of three.

The player creates a sound on a baritone or euphonium by pressing the lips together and making a buzzing sound on the mouthpiece.  The sound waves carry throughout the instrument and are amplified by the brass bell.

Both boys and girls play baritone and euphonium.  It's not really a difficult instrument to learn with a little practice.
