Clarinet care kit.

Clarinet Care Kit

This is one of the most important Clarinet accessories that you can get. In this one bag, you will find everything you need for basic maintenance of your clarinet. Each kit contains cork grease, polish cloth, reed guard, mouthpiece brush, swab, duster brush, use/care sheet, name tag for your case, and a fingering chart.

Reeds.

Reeds

Reeds are one of the single most important accessories for your clarinet. Without them, you will not be able to make a single sound on the clarinet. There are several different brands and strengths. For beginners, most band directors recommend something economical because the player will be going through several of them. Beginners will usually start on a strength 2 or 2 1/2. The strength number simply refers to the thickness of the tip of the reed. The lower the number the easier it is to play. However, the thicker the reed the better the tone.

Cork grease.Cork Grease

Cork grease is another important accessory. Cork grease is used on cork joints to make your clarinet easy to assemble and disassemble. It comes in a convenient twist tube for easy application.

Pad guard.

Swabs and Padsavers

Another important accessory is the swab or pad-saver. You can use these to remove any moisture inside your clarinet that will eventually ruin the pads and make it hard to play. A "pull-through" swab is a cloth attached to a string and weight. The player drops the weight through the body of the clarinet and then pulls through to clean. The "push-through" swab is a swab attached to a stick and can be pushed through the body of the instrument. Padsavers are similar to "push-through" swabs.
