DIRECTOR ACTIVITIES
Several times during the year Amro sponsors special events for band directors. In the fall, there is a Back to School Party for directors and their spouses/dates. It's a great opportunity to get together in a fun setting with other directors from the area and compare notes and information. Many professional contacts (and several marriages) have resulted from the Amro Back to School Parties. They're usually held the Saturday night preceding the opening of school. In the past the parties have been held at the Rock ‘N Soul Museum, the Delta Queen riverboat, Graceland, the Rendezvous, and Mud Island.
Each summer Amro sponsors a golf scramble for directors and their principals, superintendents, and booster presidents. You don't have to bring one of them, but if they play golf, it's a great opportunity to increase good relations with them. It's held at one of the area's top golf courses, there are many nice prizes (for both good and bad scores), and there is Bar-B-Q and an awards ceremony afterwards. It's a good chance to enjoy a fun day with the people you work with who can be very important to your program. We think it fosters understanding and friendship that can be an important asset to the band program during the rest of the year.
